Photography World to Descend Upon Houston for City-Wide Festival
One of the world’s largest photography exhibitions returns to Houston this year. The Fotofest 2012 Biennial begins March 16, and lasts until April 29 at venues across Houston.
More than 110 museums, art galleries, universities, non-profit art organizations, and corporate spaces across the Houston, Galveston, and Fort Bend County area will be hosting photographic exhibitions, auctions, artist talks, films, workshops, book signings, tours and much more over the five week event.
Houston will be turned into the photography center of the world, as those interested in the art will have an opportunity to see works from the world’s most prominent and skillful photographers.
One of the main exhibits focuses on contemporary Russian photography, with gems for both art and history lovers alike. These works will be divided into three collections: After Stalin, “The Thaw,” The Re-emergence of the Personal Voice (Late 1940s-1970s); “Perestroika, Liberalization and Experimentation” (Mid 1980s-2010); “The Young Generation” (2007-2012).
This is a can’t-miss event for anyone who loves photography or even enjoys simply taking snapshots of their friends with a phone camera.
