Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Opens New Tower
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital is rolling out the opening of its seven-story, $80 million patient tower, with plans to open new units over the next few years.
The 240,000-square-foot expansion was completed in November and added eight additional surgical suites and surgical support services. Four floors are available for build-out projects.
The hospital has plans to add a $6 million joint replacement unit, with requests for proposals to go out soon, hospital CEO Steve Sanders said. The unit, which includes a rehabilitation gymnasium, will be about 24,000 square feet. Sanders said there is additional space to expand the unit if needed. He anticipated the unit will open in 2014.
The other floors will cost between $8 million to $12 million each to build out, but Sanders said the hospital is not prepared to discuss those projects at this time.
However, Sanders said he expects the hospital to bring its bed count from 258 currently to well over 300 throughout the next few years.
